Oceanscope is at the end of Songdo International Business District. It was built with the vision of Incheon where visitors can enjoy the sunset at Incheon Bridge and the West Sea. This container work represents the logistical hub of Incheon and won the Grand Prize from the Red Dot Design Award, the world’s largest design competition. The sophisticated and warm work of art is ready to welcome visitors.
Oceanscope means the opportunity that the ocean provides; it represents the history and vision of Incheon. As a leading logistical city in Korea, Incheon considers the ocean as offering its biggest opportunity. The container, as a symbol of distribution and transportation, is the building block of a logistical hub. Oceanscope imparts new meaning through the containers so that they can represent Incheon as a logistical hub, nature and vision. Containers with different angles toward the sky provide the architectural sequence with a variety of frames through length and angles, to attract visitors.
Oceanscope have observatory and exhibition area. Tourist information and civic exhibitions are hosted at its permanent display place.
The observatory is the biggest strength of Oceanscope, which fascinates visitors with its mildness and the beauty of the West Sea, called the West Sea in Korea, when the sky is covered with azure light. The sun dyes the sky and the ocean red before it sinks into the ocean, and gradually but colorfully says goodbye at sunset. Oceanscope is full of colorful lightning at night. Those charmed by its mysterious beauty will keep this moment in their hearts. The container that is inclined the most has stairs inside, which have been built to allow visitors to get closer views of the ocean and sky. The dark sea shines itself with the lightning. Even with the coldest wind from the West Sea, it leaves a deep impression looking at the endless ocean. Incheon Bridge offers a different look after sunset with delicate lightning. Looking at it from Oceanscope offers the best view.
