Story of Songdo

[Songdo International City Restaurant] Chef-Ae-Bulgogi

[Songdo International City Restaurant]

Chef-Ae-Bulgogi

I heard there is a good bulgogi restaurant in the Sharp Central Park building nearby Songdo Central Park.

It’s in the same building of Tokyo Pangya and 2nd floor of Think Coffee.

It’s called Chef-ae-bulgogi! (chef-love bulgogi)

I was amazed by the design as soon as I reached the entrance.

They made a road of flowers.  Is it the right place?  I thought.

I went inside and it was a Korean restaurant with clean, ordinary interior design.

Downstairs is full of rooms, where you can have quiet meals.

You have to make reservations, though.

The other places are all nearby windows, so you can enjoy the view.

We came early and we were pretty lucky; we got a room which is nearby windows.

Checking the menu!  I was looking through whether they have lunch specials or not.

There is lunch special during weekedays!!

There are course menus serving until 3 o’clock on weekdays, so we ordered 2 hanwoo saeng bulgogi jeongsik

(course menu of bulgogi with Korean beef).

They put the grill right away.

It seemed like there is sesame oil on the pan.

And bulgogi was served.

When the pan is heated up enough, one of the worker puts bulgogi and vegetables on the pan and grill them.

And it smells… so… tasty.

I was so satisfied because the side dishes were very well cooked.

Firstly, kkakdugi kimchi!  Leek with red sauce that goes with bulgogi!

Vegetable salad with soy-sauce dressing!!

I considered this restaurant as just an ordinary barbecue place, but as soon as I saw the next side dishes, I realized it was a Korean Table d’hote place.

This is tangpyeongchae (mung bean jelly salad) made with white mung bean jelly.

And this is the appetizer, vegetable salad!!

Spicy and sour seasoned sashimi!!

I was surprised by the freshness of the fish.

I didn’t hear what kind of meat it was, but it is seasoned meat with beautiful plating!!

This is chewy grilled Pollack!

Japchae that is even loved by children!!

Crispy kimchijeon (kimchi pancake) that was so delicious and finally sesame miyeokguk (seaweed soup)!!

The side dishes were so good that I barely ate bulgogi.

I mean IT IS a Korean Table d’hote, the side dishes better be good, and it was so good!  I liked it a lot!

Now, let’s start with the main menu, bulgogi!!

The worker here grills for you, so you can enjoy the side dishes until the grilling is done.

When it is done, you can enjoy sweet bulgogi with vegetables!

You will be served a bowl of rice originally,

but if you pay extra fees, you can change it into Hamheung naengmyeon (Hamheung Cold Noodles).

I wanted to eat Mulnaengmyeon (Watery Cold Noodles) so I ordered Hamheung Mulnaengmyeon!

Mulnaengmyeon was so good, too.

I heard later, the main chef here used to work in a hotel as a chef.

Anyway, Hamheung naengmyeon was pretty good with thin noodles and cool broth, so I thought that it would be actually pretty good just to come here to eat naengmyeon.

This is the dessert after the meal!!

It was very satisfying meal.

I think it is a good place to come with your guests or families sometimes.

They also serve ordinary lunch menus, just to let you know.
