Are you in Korea now? All around you may see a lot of banners and people campaigning. On June 13, 2018 Korea will be holding their local elections.
On this day, all 17 metropolitan mayors and governors will be up for election. Also there will be elections for the vacant seats in the national assembly.
This day, has been designated as a non-work day encouraging people to go out and vote.
On this day, the South Korean financial markets will also shut down for the local elections. There will be no liquidation of stocks and interest rate swaps in Korean won and US dollars.
