Yeonsu-gu Inspects and Offers Guidance on Nutrition Content Labels on Foods

    Preferred by Children

For four days in October, Yeonsu-gu inspected and offered guidance on the nutrition content labels of foods preferred by children. The inspection and guidance was carried out at food service businesses cooking and making these foods.
A group of four inspectors, including inspectors from the Customer Food Hygiene Inspection Agency, went to 86 stores handling brands of snack food, bread, ice cream, hamburgers, and pizza, with direct management stores and franchise stores numbering more than 100. The purpose of the inspection was to determine whether the stores are complying with nutrition labeling requirements by providing customers information on calories, sugar, protein, saturated fat, and sodium content. Inspections also looked at the background color and distinction of the nutrition content label itself, whether the labels had been placed where customers can easily see them, the number of foods without labels, and reports on new foods.
