Reservations for visits and educational programs are available by phone or through the internet (http://www.kogas.or.kr/museum_in/kr/00_main/main.jsp). Educational programs at the museum are provided by promotional staff, who accompany visitors from the start to the end. The staff explains each exhibition room, and the program takes about 60~80 minutes. Weekdays are for group visits while weekends are reserved for individual and family visits. If you want to bring your car, you must list your license plate number before entering the museum. If you made reservations, you can come to the Gas Science Museum by taking a shuttle bus. Group visitors in Yeonsu-gu need to go to a designated location where the shuttle bus picks them up, while family visitors can gather at Dongmak Station to be picked up.
The educational program starts in the exhibition room on the 2nd floor of the main building. Through an illustrative video, visitors learn about the concept of natural gas and the history of using natural gas. By looking at a cross section of the stratum, visitors can also learn about the formation principles of natural gas buried deep inside the gas mines and the gas deposits of the world. The museum explains the whole process related to natural gas, including its formation, liquefaction, transportation, supply and use. The LNG School Zone is a place for solving quizzes about natural gas. Five True-False quizzes are given, and visitors can see the results immediately. The student with the best score receives a round of applause. After the quiz, all visitors receive a pencil as a gift.
After studying everything about natural gas energy, which is safe, clean and convenient, visitors move to LNG Adventure on the 1st floor. LNG Adventure is a place where visitors can personally experience various types of energies by freely trying equipment which approximate a handle generator, discharge device, whirlwind, thunderbolt, flame, bubble, and heat energy.
Once the education at the exhibition center is finished, visitors move to the Clean Tower, an observatory standing 13 floors high. The Clean Tower is a cone-shaped building with an image of a gas flame. The tower symbolizes future science. The Clean Tower has four telescopes facing east, west, south and north. Through these telescopes, visitors can view the Incheon Manufacturing Plant. To the east, all of Songdo New Town can be enjoyed. However, because the area is classified as Top Secret, taking photographs is strictly prohibited.
After visiting the observatory, visitors move to the theater to enjoy a 3D movie. The movie is appropriate for children, so the entire family can enjoy it. The movie runs for about 20 minutes. Since April 2013, a mime musical called ‘Cleaner Rabbit’ has also been performed at 2:30 p.m. on the fourth Sunday of every month.
