Incheon Landing Operation
Memorial Hall
June in Korea marks a month
of people remembering and
honoring those that had selflessly
given their lives to protect Korea
during the Korean War.
Please take some time to visit
one of the memorial in Yeonsu
in remembrance of these
brave soldiers.
The Incheon Landing Operation was
a well known operation
that played a critical role
during the Korean War.
This operation called
Operation Chromite
took place on September 15, 1950.
It was a surprise landing operation
in Incheon led by General McArthur.
It was due to this operation
that the South and UN Forces
were able to cut the North’s supply lines
and recapture Seoul.
At the memorial there are photos
from the operation,
military armaments used by both
the South and North’s militaries.
Outside of the hall,
there is a memorial tower,
with the 16 national flags
of the countries that fought
beside Korea.
This is an important part
of Korea’s history one
that should not be forgotten.
Also, located next to this memorial is
the Incheon City Museum.
