“Hambak Village—the neighborhood next to Yeonsu-1-dong, where I live—is home to many
Russian-Koreans and foreigners. The mix of cultures gives the area an exotic atmosphere.
It was also a place where many people felt anxious, due to unsavory events and incidents in the past.
For some time now, however, I have recognized small improvements as things have started to
change, little by little. For one thing, artists began painting beautiful murals throughout the village, and CCTV cameras are now installed at every corner of the alleyways. Changes like these have made the place feel safer and help to create a general sense of good-naturedness. Entering Hambak Village Cultural Welfare Center, I got the
feeling that this place would make living in the area more enjoyable and would satisfy my desire
for cultural experiences.
“Yeonsu-gu also seems to be well aware of the needs of residents interested in getting a glimpse
of city-related information. For this, the office runs All-Platform, a portal site that provides
information regarding various places in the community, and it’s available anytime, anywhere.
When I heard that the office was providing residents with administrative information, with an added effort to make it available immediately and with a flair for entertainment, I was convinced once again of Yeonsu-gu’s standing as a place that will grow in harmony with its residents.”
