In June, various public contests and pilot projects using ICT were carried out in the first smart traffic light installation project to prevent traffic accidents.
Smart traffic lights have been installed near the three-way junction of Dongmak and Yeonseong Elementary School, where safety accidents involving the handicapped and smartphone users occur regularly in recent years. The lights are composed of LED floor-type traffic lights and voice assist guidance devices.
The LED floor type traffic lights provide a safe walking environment due to increased visibility, and the voice assist guidance devices prevent traffic accidents by providing a warning sound when a pedestrian enters the road during a red signal.
In addition to smart traffic lights, Yeonsu-gu is promoting “The Project to Establish an Unmanned Enforcement System for Parking Areas for the Disabled Using IoT” as a smart-city living lab project. Yeonsu-gu has been putting a lot of effort into the issuance of special tax grants for the establishment of an AI-based system for child accident prevention as well.
