Places touched by the warm spring sun are filled with the energy of life.
This is the time when we all feel like taking a relaxing walk.
Our hearts already welcome the flowers ahead. In Yeonsu-gu, a magnificent scene is
created by the splendid cherry blossoms in the old downtown and the royal azaleas turn
Songdo International City into an ocean of flowers.
Let’s hurry and follow the scent of the flowers.
Of all the tree-lined streets of Incheon, this 1km road is where the cherry blossoms are most beautiful. The road runs from Woninjae Station to Yeonsu Station on the Suin Line, or further still, from Yongdam Park to Woninjae Station. The road has been selected as one of the ‘Twenty Most Beautiful Roads for Walking’ by Incheon City.
One look at the dazzling cherry blossoms standing on both sides of the road, like soldiers, tells us why. While walking down the road, the wind shakes the gentle branches, an endless sprinkle of splendid flower rain. The scene over the flower waves of white and pink is simple and warm. There are also restaurants and cafes on the road where you can take a rest and relax. During spring, there are many families visiting the road to enjoy the cherry blossoms. Together, you can take the opportunity to feel the emotions of Koreans who love cherry blossoms.
The road between the Lifelong Education Center of Dongchun 2-dong and the Environmental Corporation of Incheon is also quite beautiful, especially in April. The sunlight is so beautiful that it seems to be dancing. The cherry blossom road runs 200m, from Dongmak Station Intersection to the Municipal Dongchun Inline Roller Skate Stadium. Dozens of flowering cherries and wild cherry trees form a group, creating a gorgeous scene. Looking up from under a tree, you will feel the smooth and warm colors of flowers stroking your face. It is a dreamlike feeling. The happiness of spring can be fully appreciated while walking down this flower road.
Beautiful cherry blossoms also bloom in Kumho Donga Apartment Complex, next to the Yeonsu-gu Office. Usually, places filled with cherry blossoms are packed with people. However, this place is a bit different. The cherry blossom road inside the apartment complex is a place where you can enjoy a quiet walk while being lost in the beauty of flowers.
The Flower Way
When the festival of flowers begins in the 20-building complex, the residents welcome it, throwing open the windows of their porches. The place is perfect for inviting neighbors for flower-viewing or having a happy teatime on a bench. This cozy and welcoming cherry blossom road makes you feel like taking a walk, holding the hands of your loved ones.
In the language of flowers, royal azaleas mean ‘the joy of love.’ Maybe this is why Songdo is filled with joy from April to May. Around the model parks of Songdo International City – Central Park, Haedoji Park and Michuhol Park – Ara-gil stretches about 8km and presents a banquette of flowers. Although it takes about two hours to walk along all three parks, there is no time for boredom: the flowers on the road are dazzling.
A Bicycle Path
The Royal Azaleas Hill located to the left of Central Park’s Boathouse has two of the nine greatest scenes of the park. Along the trail next to the sluice way, royal azaleas boast their beauty between the well-grown pine trees. The bright red flowers fill the hill with a gorgeousness and beauty that stops tourists in their tracks. Different plants and flowers can be found here during every season. Besides royal azaleas, small and cute flowers such as ground pinks and cinquefoils greet the visitors. In fact, visitors can see 26 different kinds of spring flowers with their simple beauty, including forsythias, lilacs, goldenrain trees, and cornlian cherries.
Haedoji Park is also filled with royal azaleas. The entire hill is embroidered with bright red Korean azaleas. The path up to the hill is also decorated by a long red flower bed, which goes perfectly with the fresh green of the zelkovas and pines, refreshing the moods of all visitors. Structures installed here and there in the park also provide excitement, while the stream of the artificial pond in front of the rising
building coolly spreads out before you. The spring face of the park is truly beautiful, with flowers, trees, green grass and the color of the water all in harmony with each other.
Now time for Michuhol Park. Satukis, Korean azaleas, and rosebays, with colors slightly different from each other, take the place of the cherry blossoms to harmonize with the traditional towers, adding a classical grace and dignity to the park. Besides azaleas, Korean barberries covered with small flowers, cute white pansies, and other groups of flowers fill the park with their beauty and fragrance. The harmony of flowers and green buds creates a charming spectacle.
