June 4th, The Local Election

Hello, I'm Woo Jae Sun, one of the third reporters of the Yeonsu youth blog reports.June 4th was the local election.

At a local election we pick the head of a borough metropolitan mayor, superintendent of education, city councilors, district representative.Voting started at 6 AM to 6 PM, the local election happened at about 13600 polls.I went to Myeongseon elementary school, one of the polls in Songdo with my parents.Although I don't have the right to vote, I could feel that a lot of people had interest in voting.

You can check where the nearest poll is by checking the voting instructions that were sent to homes, check the NEC center or the local government's homepage and internet portal sites.Unlike the pre-voting, at election day you can only vote at your residence.

After you give your ID you get your ballet paper, you go into the booth and stamp on the person that you are voting for. Then you fold it in half and then put it in the ballot box.

This is a photo of people voting. When you are voting you need to take a resident card, or a passport, or a driver's license, any ID that has a photo of you. When you vote, there are rules. We call these, the four principles of the elections.Free, fair, secret and regular elections.

I think it is so great seeing people vote. After watching the June 4th local election, I learned that politics is not only a game the government is playing,it's for the people and the people play it.Lincoln once said "of the people, by the people, for the people"I hope more and more people learn the importance of voting, and go out to vote. When I get the rights to vote I will be a man that always acts like a true Korean. This was Woo Jae Sun, and thank you for reading.
