Let’s go for a tour at the IFEZ Exhibition Hall!

Jia Yoo, Incheon Yeonsu-gu Youth Blog Press Corps & SNS Supporters

G-Tower, whose name stands for Green, Growth, and Global, is located in Songdo. Within the G-Tower, various international agencies for environmental protection and UN organizations are located.

‘Incheon Free Economic Zone’ Exhibition Hall, which opened in March 2015 on the 33rd floor of G-Tower, the highest floor in the building, provides detailed information on the history of its development.

Although information pamphlets in English, Chinese, and Japanese are provided so that foreigners can easily access the contents, it is unfortunate that they do not provide ones in Korean.

There are various interactive booths set up at the IFEZ Exhibition Hall where visitors can learn about IFEZ. For instance, there is a booth where a visitor can select a person in the screen and leave pictures and comments. Compared to the previous method of leaving notes on the wall, this certainly is a new approach.

Various visual media set up at the hall are also interesting.

If you further explore the Exhibition Hall, there is a peculiar interactive booth and an introductory script regarding the IFEZ.

This booth, which resembles the setting of a museum, contains monitors which provide uncomplicated explanations regarding the characteristics of IFEZ.

An interactive booth called ‘Eco Driving’ is set up on one side of the wall. If you sit on a bicycle and step on the pedals, the screen will show you flying over the skies of Songdo.

If you pass the media booth, there is a chronological table which reminds visitors of a history museum. It illustrates the history of the Incheon Free Economic Zone at a glance.

In addition, there are facilities where visitors can experience mudflats, which used to be the geographical condition of the area, or watch various video clips regarding the Incheon Free Economic Zone.

The Exhibition Hall has another unique attraction. Visitors can experience the view of the Songdo area from the 33rd floor of G-Tower. Even when compared to the view from the Sky gardens on the 29th floor, it surely is a novel experience. The view, which can also be enjoyed by using telescopes placed at the site, resembles looking at miniatures and is surely lovely.

Also, there are break areas where visitors can relax and rest after visiting various booths.

Since the G-Tower IFEZ Exhibition Hall contains various interactive booths, not only adults but also children can have great time. Many may have heard the name ‘G-Tower’ as they passed by Songdo, but it seems that most have not had a chance to visit the tower.

Although most of the floors are occupied by UN organizations and feels unwelcoming, the 33rd floor Exhibition Hall is definitely a splendid place for parents with young children, teenagers like myself, or seniors to get to know the Incheon Free Economic Zone(IFEZ-Songdo-Cheonna,Yeongjong).

Since the IFEZ Exhibition Hall is located close to Yeonsu-gu, I hope readers will have chance to visit Songdo and get a chance to learn about IFEZ.
