[Incheon Story] Incheon Restaurant Suje Galbi

[Incheon Story]

Incheon Restaurant Suje Galbi

Did you guys have lunch yet?  In my case, I visited the restaurant where I used to go for dinner; this time, for lunch.  This place is located in 4th Complex of Cheongra and is famous for its ribs.  During dinner times, this place is always full of customers.  That means this place is delicious and good, right?  I thought I won’t have many choices for lunch menu, but I was wrong.  They had galbitang (short rib soup), cheonggukjang (rich soybean paste stew), chadol doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew with beef brisket), etc. so I decided to have galbitang that day.

This is the place!  If you live in Cheongra or been around here, you must have seen this place!  This is the place that is famous in Cheongra for its handmade galbi.

The restaurant is open from 11 AM to 12AM.  They don’t say anything about closing days—are they open all year long? @.@

The first thing you will see is a salad bar, full of various kinds of vegetables, side dishes and salads.  Who would have imagined a salad bar in a rib restaurant?  They don’t have that many dishes like a buffet, but they allow refills and serve delicious side dishes.  It would be good to use when you are having ribs for your dinner.

I’ve heard about some news about some people gluing low quality meat on bones and sell them as fake galbis.  It made me to suspect about the food before I start eating it. However, this place proved itself that it is not one of those cheeky restaurants.  (My boss ran a meat restaurant for a long time, so he knows whether the meat is fake or not.  So whenever I want to have meat, I come to this restaurant..)

Most restaurants just use small cup made with plastic, metal or glass, but this place serves water in plastic cup which looks like a wine glass.  When I first came here, I had to reconfirm that I did not order wine… we didn’t order wine, sir…

It was my first time having galbitang from this restaurant, but it was above my expectation. The soup that contained 4 ribs was well-seasoned (I tend to eat salty, so some people might think it’s salty..) and the meat was well cooked so it was easy to part meat from the bones.

Soups are always the last to have.  So I finished all the ingredients and noodles just to taste the soup.  It tasted deep.  Ah… today’s lunch was very successful.  If my boss was with me, he would have said “I have never seen you saying the food tastes horrible”.  MY boss went to the 2nd chain of this place, Suje Galbi, in Namdong-gu, to congratulate and have a meal.  (If I don’t post anything on my blog, you can assume whether I went to a place I have already been, or to a place with terrible food…)

For side dishes, since it is a lunch special, they only serve you simple side dishes.  The geotjeori (kind of kimchi) over there tasted so good that I had to ask for refill 2 times.

This is cheonggukjang, ordered by my acquaintance.  Cheonggukjang with beef brisket inside tasted good, too.  This flavor comes up in my mind in every lunch time.

This is a sauce that comes out with galbitang.  It tastes similar to mustard sauce from gamjatang (pork backbone soup) restaurants.  It stings your tongue, and has harmony between sour and salty flavor of soy sauce…!

I wanted to grab the whole pot to taste the soup, but since that was little bit out of manner, so I had to use my spoon to taste it.  I always put more seasoning on soup, but this one is perfect for me.

The leftover ribs… I felt like ordering extra, but I started to feel full, so I did not.

I finished everything, not even a drop of soup left!  You don’t have to wash these dishes! Lol  I had a great meal, so when I was coming out from the restaurant, I was full of smile.

Personally, I’d like to come here often during dinner time to eat ribs.  (Whether it is the get-together day or not…)
