"Eating breakfast before school" campaign.

"If you eat breakfast, you will have an energetic day!"

Hello! Today we will explain Yeonsu-gu office's event concerning breakfast.

Every morning, there are many people who skip breakfast because they are too busy. However, breakfast is an important part of our daily lives. To spend each day in a healthy manner, breakfast is a necessity.

If you skip breakfast, you have to have an empty stomach from the previous night's dinner until lunch and your body will not function properly because this length of time is too long. Particularly, your cerebrum activity will be impaired if you do not eat breakfast!

The brain needs glucose to function and glucose is generally exhausted 12 hours after a meal. Therefore! The brain cannot operate optimally without breakfast.

In order to spread awareness regarding the importance of breakfast, the Yeonsu-gu Public Health Center initiated a "Eat breakfast and go to school" campaign on the 22nd targeted at Insong Middle School students in order to promote a proper dietary lifestyle.

On the 22nd, 30 individuals from the healthy lifestyle practice environmental development monitoring team, Insong Middle School parents and students participated in the "Eating breakfast in time for school" campaign and a survey regarding breakfast.

Particularly on this day, the campaign was led by the healthy lifestyle practice environmental development monitoring team that promotes a resident participation model health promotion development research business. The campaign is more significant in that the team selected the theme and the school, wrote the campaign picket motto and survey questions, determined the planning and division of labor(role?), and proceeded through community participation and a collection of opinions.

Insong Middle School's principal Jin-hyeong Lee stated that "there was greater attention given to the campaign due to the proposal submitted by the students' parents monitoring team" and "hoped that the 'Eating breakfast before school' campaign provided students an opportunity to develop healthy lifestyle habits."

Public Health Center officials stated that "skipping breakfast causes lowering of motivation concerning scholastic achievement, imbalanced nutrition intake, underweight children, obesity, etc." and that "they plan on hosting a special lecture in December advocating children's health promotion for the entire student body based on the survey results and expressed opinions.

In addition, the healthy lifestyle practice environmental development monitoring team with Inha University will manage a cooperative task through a resident participation model health promotion development research business from 2012 to 2014 with the support of the Ministry of Health & Welfare.

Everyone~! Please eat your breakfast for a healthy day~
