When You Go to _____ Market, You Will See...

+ Stories of Yeonsu-gu Traditional Markets
Yeonsu-gu has a few traditional markets, each boasting a long history.

These markets are always bustling with fresh food and people arriving from
all over the country. Why not get a firsthand feel of
Hangawi at Yeonsu-gu traditional markets, full of
warm hearts and affection in the midst of the busy city center?

There will be many residents who cannot
visit their hometowns this Chuseok due to

concerns surrounding the spread of COVID-19.

As such, we explored these compassionate traditional markets

on behalf of residents who might be missing their
families and relatives living elsewhere.

Songdo Station Market (송도 역전시장)

Songdo Station Market, which started with the
introduction of the Suin Line in the 1960s,

has a long history of about 60 years.

At first, it was more like a flea market

where women visited by traveling along
the narrow-gauge train, but it gradually grew into

a more permanent market as merchants from

all over the country gathered.

This market is relatively small but has become

one of the city’s representative
tourist attractions, along with Baekje Envoy-gil.

Ongnyeon Market (옥련시장)

First established in 1996, Ongnyeon Market is located
in the center of the residential area of Ongnyeondong.
Surrounded by apartment complexes,

this market is always bustling with people.

Its location in the middle of the residential area makes

this place full of various household goods and foods,
whatever your need may be. The market itself,
which has been refurbished with modern facilities
since 2010, is welcoming to visitors with its neatly
maintained appearance. It has grown to become

a tourist attraction that satisfies not only visitors from
neighboring regions but also foreign tourists.
