Relocation and Reopening of Yeonsu-gu Village Development Support Center
Yeonsu-gu Village Development Support Center was first opened in August 2019 at a temporary office in Seonhak Gymnasium. On June 1 this year, the center was relocated and reopened on the second floor of the annex of Yeonsu-gu Office, marking a new beginning. The center will help connect residents and provide a platform for them to serve as the village’s main body. Let’s briefly explore the center’s first steps going forward.

How Was Yeonsu-gu Village Development Support Center Created?
The mission for Yeonsu-gu Village Development Support Center is based around “Creating a Resident-led Sustainable Community of an Autonomous Village.” The center has four major tasks in line with this mission. First, it will design a village community competition project that meets the needs and circumstances of residents and will build support systems based on any issues encountered. The center is planning to prepare educational programs and other activities for residents, and to dispatch specialists (village supporters) to provide more detailed
assistance, as needed. Second, the center will try to strengthen the village community network for a sustainable village community ecosystem. The center will establish a cooperative village community network by linking various regions and agendas, and it will prepare a way to support residents for active participation in establishing
plans for the autonomy of the village. Third, the center will build ‘Yeonsu-gu Village Community Archive.’ Through this archive, the center intends to record the village community’s history in Yeonsu-gu and investigate resources within the village, such as shared spaces, in order to create a shared-resource platform. Finally, the center
will strive to discover and systematize a village community model suitable for Yeonsu-gu.

How Is Yeonsu-gu Village Development Support Center Organized?
Yeonsu

-gu Village Development Support Center has now moved to the second floor of the Annex of Yeonsu-gu Office building, after starting out as a community space for residents. The center now offers an office for general business, three rooms for residents’ communities, a small lecture hall for education,
a shared kitchen, and a cafe. With these facilities in place, the center aims to operate as ‘a space for the village community’ and ‘a square for meeting residents’, where meetings, communication and collaboration are in place in everyday life.
