IFEZ Art city

Have you notcied that art is an important aspect of the Korean culture? As you visit Korea, you will find sculptures, paintings, monuments, and museums all through out Korea. Songdo is no exception. In front of every major building, you will see an art piece, take some time to see for yourself!

Songdo is surrounded by art. Just in Central Park alone, you will be able to see 8 different art pieces throughout the park. It is a project which is being promoted by IFEZ (Incheon Free Economic Zone) called the “ART/ACT SONGDO”.

Here are three different pieces that we think you should definitely go and see! 

<Songdo Tree>

This is a popular tree in Songdo Central Park which has also become a well known photo zone. It was created by the artist Myungho Lee. He created this by installing a large white canvas behin a tree. It is a great place to check out your photo skills!

<The Songdo Tudors>

This is an Incheon City Museum also known as the Compact Smart City. It is located by the entrance of Central park.

The exterior of the building was redesigned by British artist Richard Woods. It is meant to symbolize opposites for example ‘interior and exterior’, ‘nature and civilization’.  There are many things to see within the building as well. You will be able to learn about the past, present, and future of not only IFEZ but Incheon as well.

<Grove of Sound>

 

 ‘Grove of Sound’ is located on the opposite side of the tri-bowl next to Central Park and G-Tower. ‘Grove of Sound’ is composed of stainless pipes and cooper pipes. They are installed to represent a rhythmical pattern of curves. Over 200 pipes move together, creating a special sound.

 

 

Take some time to walk around Central Park and the surrounding areas and you will be able to notice all the different works of art around Songdo!
