SONGDO 2013 MCOP

Hi! I'm Yerim Kim, youth reporter!

I visited SONGDO 2013 MCOP as observer on November 2nd and 4th.

In commemoration of the first anniversary of being selected as a host city 

for the Green Climate Fund (GCF) secretariat, SONGDO 2013 MCOP held in Songdo Convensia. 

 

SMCOP is Songdo Model Conference Of Parties.

SMCOP recreated the whole process of United Nations Climate Change Conference 

from discussing problems to adopting agreement.

 

The head of Yeonsu-gu, Nam-Seok Go delivered welcoming remarks.

There was an open bar during break time. 

I was thirsty, so drank a glass of sweet rice drink.

Korean language machines were offered for observers.

 

The participants watched a sand art show as opening ceremony. 

The show said that climate change is the problem that the whole world should concern about and solve together.

Participants took a role as Bureau Members, Delegation of each country, and UN officers.

They answered the questions "Climate Change is already here! What shall we do NOW?" 

by debating on the following agenda. 

Oh! Our english reporter Jiwon Choi was there as the delegate of Saudi Arabia. so wonderful!!! 

SMCOP 2013 provided us with the meaningful time 

to recognize about the climate change and to discuss solutions.
