Malbok in Korea

Today is Malbok in Korea! What does that mean?! It means that the end of summer has officially started! Korean people believe, in accordance with the lunar calendar, that today is the first of the final 10 days of this sweltering heat!

It has been definitely a hot summer, the hottest in 14 years in Korea. So many must be glad that it will be ending soon!

Like any special and meaningful day in Korea, this day is enjoyed with food as well. On Malbok, Korean people eat samgyetang which is a Korean style chicken soup. There are great medical benefits that dish offers and is thought to help the body fight the heat.

We hope for dinner tonight you can enjoy a bowl of samgyetang to beat the heat Korean style!
