Yeonsugu News

MINI INTERVIEW - I hope we can build Yeonsu-gu together.

Han Eun-hye has been

a passionate advocate

of the Women-friendly

City Citizen’s Action Group

since she was selected

as a member earlier this year.

She helped the Group

pick its slogan at a meeting,

managed a promotional booth,

and briefed her fellow

Yeonsu-gu residents on what a

women-friendly city is and

on the topic of gender equality.

When the city government was

looking to install various

safety mirrors across the city,

she voiced her opinion

on a variety of factors,

including the height

and position of mirrors.

Han made the decision to join

the Group to help solve some

of the inconveniences

she had to endure.

“As a mother,

there were several things

that were simply inconvenient

across the city.

So, I decided to join the Group

in the hope that I might

be able to change a few of them.”

She also learned more clearly

about gender equality

and women-friendly cities,

both of which she had

only a vague sense of,

upon joining the Citizen’s

Action Group.

Through the process of investigating

what parts of a particular

system can change,

and debating the utility

of such change,

she is gaining a clearer picture

of the Yeonsu-gu she wants to build.

She said,

“I hope that Yeonsu-gu can develop

policies and initiatives

tailored to double income families

as the womenfriendly city project

expands its scope into

other areas moving forward.

To do so, I think we need more people

to join the Group to discuss

things and work for our city.

In the end, we can bring change

when like-minded people

act together,” and described

her aspirations to see

Yeonsu-gu grow into a city

where everyone can lead happier,

safer lives.
