In the 17th year of King Geungocho, the 13th king of Baekje, and ambassadors to China went to Neungheudae through Bupyung's Byonllihyun (Biryu Hill) through this hill. Samhoyun is a place where the ambassador's family and friends bid farewell to each other.

 

 

Sunbawi Rock/ Gapotbawi Rock


It's a rock in Munhaksan Mountain Samhohyun (Samoji Hill) and has an interesting legend. According to legend, the hole in the rock was always filled with liquor and passersby could always quench their thirst. However, they were prohibited from drinking more than one cup. One day, a monk who was passing by the rock tasted the wine and got addicted to it and ended up drinking it all.


Gapwotbawi Rock a rock that resembles a couple on the other side of Sulbawi Rock. Inside the rocks is general's armor prohibiting one from opening it. One day, a curious gatekeeper tried to open the rock, which angered heaven and he got hit by lightening and dropped dead.

 

 

Rock-eating Tree


It is a tree also called Samsinhalme. There is a theory that a rock rolled down to get stuck in the tree but it's more likely that tree was expanding and crushed rocks to become the formation it is today.

Prince Biryu, the prince of Kokuryo, established his city around Munhaksan Mountain area and called it Michuhol Country. It was a sunny place and beautiful but the water was too salty for habitation. Therefore, the well was very much enjoyed by the people.


 

Hwangbusa Rock

 

In the rock near the entrance of Chunghaksa Temple a stone is ingrained, where it is written "Incheonbusa Hwangongwunjo Chungbaksonjeonbi Stone.”


Hwangwunjo was Incheondohobu Busa Governor during King Jeongjo of Chosun Dynasty and provided good government to people. It was customary for people to dedicate memorial stone to governors when they leave their post, but the scale of this stone is unusual.
