Yeonsu-gu, winter snow damage prevention period and snow shoveling plan

“Prompt response to minimize residents’ inconvenience”

Does everyone like the snow? Snow makes the entire world white! Watching the white snow fall makes everyone feel wonderful. Did you know that snowflakes have shapes? Looking at the snow under the microscope reveals many diverse shapes. Snow forms when falling precipitation freezes during its descent. During the short time when snow falls from the sky, snowflakes form a multitude of shapes.

Such beautiful and fascinating snow! However, heavy snow can become a nuisance if there is insufficient preparation.

Therefore, Yeonsu-gu has established a snow damage prevention period from this month to March 15 of next year and will devote all its energy in addressing snow damage.

To minimize inconvenience to residents from snow damage and maintain smooth traffic flow, Yeonsu-gu has obtained 450 tons of calcium chloride, 500 tons of salt, 150 tons of eco-friendly liquid product, etc. and 18 snow clearing vehicles, 15 sidewalk snow blowers, 4 sidewalk snowplows, and other tools.

For prompt snow clearing, Yeonsu-gu has established 287 locations to store snow-clearing tools near residence concentration areas, slopes, areas where it consistently becomes icy, as well as other vulnerable areas.

Additionally, a situation room will be operated based on the various stages depending on the weather report and the Yeonsu Borough Office and dong community centers will organize an emergency service group assigned to each road and is responsible for snow removal. Yeonsu-gu has also established a policy encouraging residents’ self-regulating participation, such as the formation of downtown area cooperatives.

Yeonsu-gu’s concerned parties anticipate “record-setting snowfall and cold waves this winter in line with climate change” and have requested “the active participation of residents in clearing snow near their homes and stores in order to minimize damage from strong snowfall.”

Yeonsu-gu has also hosted a snow clearing tool exhibition on the 12th at Sangjing plaza in front of the Yeonsu-gu Office with the participation of Incheon City Deputy Mayor Cho Myung-woo, head of the self-governing community, and related organizations’ concerned parties. There was also a presentation of an automatic saltwater spray system and salt whisk on site in Incheon(?) in the Chungryang Tunnel and the area under the Dongchun Bridge.
