[Yeonsu News] Yeonsu-gu, starting full-scale promotion of urban landscape and color design business in the new year

From this month, Yeonsu-gu will promote extensive urban color design projects with the goal of establishing a beautiful and pleasant urban environment that offers improved urban aesthetics and ensures pedestrian safety in the region.

The promotion project includes 9 projects that will enhance the image of the city landscape as well as create a citizen-participatory urban landscape culture in which citizens directly propose and participate in, making signboard improvements, highlighting the region’s nightscape and color design, and creating and implementing resident participation projects.

First, the signboard improvement project will be promoted to target 280 businesses in three districts, including the Yeonsu 2-dong shopping area, Daedong World shopping center, and Daewoo Samhwan Apartment Shopping area in order to revitalize small businesses and local commercial areas that have been suffering from the prolonged effects of Covid-19.

As part of the project to create a street with beautiful signs for small business owners, Yeonsu-gu will receive 418 million won, or 50% of the total project cost from the city, and the project will begin in earnest from this month.

For the night landscape and color design project, 50% of the total project cost, or 100 million won, will be supported by the city for the project on the night landscape of Songdo Coastal Road Overpass and the color design project for the lower space of Seunggicheon Stream.

Through this project, Yeonsu-gu aims to provide citizens with a beautiful and colorful urban environment that offers a stark difference from the existing bleak image of an overpass, securing pedestrian safety and improving urban aesthetics.

At the same time, three resident participation proposal projects will also be promoted to create a civic participatory urban landscape culture in which citizens directly propose changes and participate in turning them into reality.

To improve the scenery of the pedestrian overpass, the color design project for the overpass will be promoted in front of the Hambak Elementary School, as well as safe, non-slip floor facilities for students commuting to school in Hambak Village.

In addition, Yeonsu-gu plans to establish an environment in which residents can again walk happily and safely at all times of the day and night through the maintenance of pedestrian-only roads, such as repair work on the Happy Road and installation of floor lighting on the side streets of Hanyang Apartments and Daewoo Samhwan Apartments.
