Mailing Parcels from Korea

Living abroad can be quite exciting but there are times when simple tasks become difficult if you aren’t accustomed to the system. For example, mailing a package. Back at home, very simple right? In Korea, it is simple as well! Whether you are sending domestically or internationally, the post office will make it easy for you!

First, the hours of operation at the post office are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m on the weekdays. On the weekends, the post-office is closed. If you have your items boxed you can take your box to the post office. If you do not have a box, don’t worry, you can purchase one at the post-office. They have various sizes for you to choose from, and they are reasonably priced. If you need bubble wrap, they sell that separately, so please speak with someone there to help you.

Once your box is packed, there is a form for you fill out. If you are sending domestically, the form is different from international shipments. The form you see below is for domestic bound items. Once the form is filled out, pick a number, and take it to the clerk when your number is called. They will way the box and give you a price. They postage fee is about 4000-5000 Korean Won / 2kg.

The below form is for your international bound boxes. It is similar to filling out the form above, however there is a customs section for you to fill out. The price will differ according to the country you are sending the box to.

Sending items is made quite simple, and if you have a difficult time, just ask the clerk. They are friendly and more than willing to help you.
