The Culture Park Library and Solan Park Library, which will be opened first this time, are small libraries with a total floor area of about 200 m2, and are operated as separate specialized libraries to utilize the space suitable for the characteristics of each region.
The small library project in the park in Yeonsu, which started in 2019, is a project to build small libraries in four places for three years, including Culture Park, Solan Park, Haechansol Park, and Nuri Park with a budget of KRW 2.4 billion, funded by the government and the district.
In order to provide specialized services for each library, ▲Culture Park-Children, ▲Solan Park-Literature, ▲Haechansol Park-Nature/Environment, ▲Nuri Park-Korean History, it will play the role of a encouraging reading culture in the region.
The two small libraries that are opening this time will start temporary operation on the 10th. After launching the operation of the book loan system and the preparation period for opening, the book loan/return service and various services will be provided officially from the 17th.
The operating hours are from 10 A.M to 6 P.M every Tuesday to Saturday, and anyone with a membership card at the Yeonsu Public Library can use it. After this year, the inter-library loan service of municipal libraries will be supported starting next year.
In particular, the two small libraries that will be opened this time are close to large-scale apartment complexes, which satisfies the residents' need to use the library. It is expected that it will be able to play a central role in the local community.
Following the Cultural Park and Solan Park, Haechansol Park and Nuri Park are also scheduled to be completed in September and December. The existing small library in Yeonsu 2-dong will be relocated to the small library in Solan Park.
Accordingly, if four small libraries in the park open this year, Yeonsu libraries will be operated as 1 main building, 6 branch buildings, and 9 small libraries, including the existing Yeonsu 1, Ongnyeon 1 and 2, and Songdo 2 and 3 dong small libraries.
In addition, each small library plans to provide a variety of contents and programs related to specialized themes. For efficient management and operation, it will be operated in a private consignment method.
Through the opening of a small library, Yeonsu is expected to relieve the residents' growing need to use the library and play a central role in the local community.
