[Yeonsu News] Yeonsu-gu appointed Park Ae-ri and Poppin Hyun-joon as the 5th ICLC ambassadors

Yeonsu-gu appointed famous Korean musician Park Ae-ri and performing artist Poppin Hyun-joon as ambassadors for the 5th UNESCO International Conference on Learning Cities (ICLC) to be held in Songdo this fall in the small conference room on the second floor of Yeonsu-gu Office on the 15th. 

 

The appointment ceremony, attended by Korean traditional musician Park Ae-ri, pop dancer Poppin Hyun-joon, and other officials, was held in the order of awarding a plaque, commemorative photos, and a meeting of candidates for appointment as ambassadors.


Starting with the appointment ceremony, Park Ae-ri and Poppin Hyun-joon will work to enhance the image of the 5th ICLC, including appearing in promotional videos, using ambassador brands, preparing for ICLC, and promoting it to the outside world during the event.

 

Representative Korean traditional musician Park Ae-ri and Western contemporary artist Poppin Hyun-joon are currently engaged in various TV activities, crossing the modern and classical fields to spread the dynamic beauty of Korea, and are expected to play a significant role in promoting the ICLC.

 

Park Ae-ri is a talented Korean classical musician who won the Presidential Award at the 8th Namdo Folk Song Contest in 2005, the 37th Korean Broadcasting Awards in 2010, the KBS Gugak Pansori Awards and Grand Prize in 2013, and the Presidential Award at the 49th Korean Chunhyang Gugak Festival in 2019.

 

She became famous by singing the drama Daejanggeum OST "ONARA," and continues her steady broadcasting activities by appearing in the King of Masked Singer (83rd runner-up in the contest), immortal songs, and Korean traditional music yard.

 

Poppin Hyun-joon is South Korea's first-generation poper and street dancer who won the 2007 BQ Youth Week Asian Dance King Award and the 2017 New Korean Wave Street Dance Contest Solo category, along with a number of ambassadors, honorary ambassadors for the 2012 PyeongChang Winter Special Olympics and Down Welfare Center.

 

Currently, he is the CEO of Poppin Hyun-joon Art Company and an adjunct professor at the Department of Practical Dance and Arts at the Seoul Hoseo Arts School, actively promoting street dance on the performance and broadcasting.

 

The 5th ICLC, which will be held in the Songdo Convensia area for four days from October 27 to 30, is a representative international event in the field of lifelong learning held every two years across the globe hosted by UNESCO Lifelong Learning Institute (UIL).

 

Yeonsu-gu is preparing for the event in the form of a hybrid conducted online and offline under the theme of "Going beyond Response to a New Leap Forward" amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
