The Yeonsu-gu Ssireum Team, which has been promoting normalization by recruiting a new coach last year, announced the revival of Incheon Folk Ssireum by producing the first ever Cheonha Jangsa in the 25 years since its establishment.

Chan-young Kim, Baekdu-class of the Yeonsu Office Ssireum Team, defeated Jin Kim (Jeungpyeong Office) 3 to 1 in the final match of the "With Us Pharmaceutical 2021 Cheonha Jangsa Ssireum Grand Festival" held at Munsu Gymnasium in Ulsan on the 7th and stand on the top of the sand board.

It is the first Cheonha Jangsa for the amateur team in Incheon, and it is the best title in ssireum that Incheon has held in 37 years since 1984, when Ji-young Jang, a student at Inha University, became the 3rd Cheonha Jangsa.

The Yeonsu Office Ssireum Team, which was reorganized with their new coach Geun-sik Choi from Inha University in October of last year, participated in 10 national competitions this year, and it has been recognized by winning 20 national championships, including four individual championships.

In particular, Bo-kyung Kim, Yuksa-class won the National Ssireum Competition and the National Ssireum Championship one after another this year, and Hyeon-woo Seong, Cheongjang-class, has also achieved good results in individual and team competitions.

Chan-young Kim, Baekdu-class received attention as he wins the final of the National Ssireum Championships after placing 4th in the Lunar New Year's Ssireum Competition earlier this year, who also holds the team’s first ever Cheonha Jangsa title, following the Baekdu Jangsa title at the 2019 Changnyeong Championships.

The Yeonsu Office Ssireum Team, which currently consists of 11 members including a manager, coach and 9 players, recruited five additional members next year, including Tae-ha Kim of Inha University, the best in the college league and a total of 13 players will prepare for a revival of Incheon Ssireum.

On the same day, Yeonsu decided to review and improve the overall training environment, including a new facility to replace the old training ground and players' dormitory located in Yongdam Park, together with the ssireum team and officials from the Yeonsu office.

An official from the Ssireum Team said, "Thanks to the players who worked hard even in difficult circumstances both internally and externally. As the only general ssireum team representing the region, we will provide active support together with Incheon and the Sports Association so that the team can confidently continue being an exemplary role model in Incheon Ssireum.”
