With the 5th UNESCO International Conference on Learning Cities (hereinafter referred to as ICLC) approaching the closing ceremony amid heated discussions, The '2021 ICLC Global Citizenship Lifelong Learning Expo' will be held for two days on the 29th and 30th, with the splendid ending of the ICLC.
As a joint event of the 5th ICLC, 9 themed halls and 154 booths are organized in the 1.2 exhibition hall of Songdo Convensia, Yeonsu, to prepare a variety of attractions and experience events related to lifelong education, inviting domestic and international participants and Incheon citizens.
It is a space that presents to member cities and citizens of the global village the international competitiveness and status of Incheon and Yeonsu, which will be positioned as future lifelong learning cities, under the theme of ‘Journey to a Lifelong Learning City - The Path of Global Citizens.’
The event site was organized into the process of acquiring information and experiencing the keywords city-ecology-people-art-global village through one page of a large book displayed in each themed hall in the form of a road tour.
In addition to the main stage where official events including the opening ceremony and celebratory performances will be held, the ‘Yeonsu open yard,’ which will be made up of various sculptures and 36 booth spaces, and booth spaces for various themes will guide the participants.
The Climate Change Response Day Theme Hall, which consists of 35 independent experience booths, the SDG Promotion Hall, the Book Festival Theme Hall, and the Media Festival Theme Hall will each be installed with about 30 booths. About 10 booths for Yeonsu innovation policy promotion center, traditional culture experience, and participating organizations were also set up.
In addition, individual booths such as jobs and social welfare fairs have been prepared along with local university and school booths, and are being operated as a place for lifelong learning to promote the related policies and the excellence of lifelong learning in Korea.
Under the theme of ‘Contactles era, new lifelong learning and urban trends,’ the ‘2021 ICLC Global Citizenship Lifelong Learning Expo’ is organized so that each themed hall can provide opportunities to learn or experience contents of lifelong learning and the basic knowledge that a global citizen should have.
At the opening ceremony held on the main stage at 1 pm on the 29th, various performances were presented with the motto of the importance of carbon neutrality, which has emerged as a global concern after COVID-19.
With the opening performance of Korean traditional musician Ae-ri Park and pop dancer Poppin Hyeon-jun, a congratulatory performance by the Yeonsu District Art Group and the UNESCO ICM Martial Arts Demonstration Team, and an invitational performance by the Crossover Farmian Singers were presented.
Also, Soo-bin Cho, the host of the event, emphasized the importance of carbon neutrality with the participants, expecting a clearer image of the earth through the carbon neutral declaration following the screening of the 2050 carbon-neutral environment video.
Practice in daily life, Climate Change Response Day Theme Hall
At the Climate Change Response Day Theme Hall, 30 booths are organized to show various practical examples in daily life that can reduce climate change in a friendly space, and various experience events are being held.
The experience program zone exhibits the contrasting image of the future of Korea, which will shine brightly due to the participation of people on polluted climate change and carbon-neutral environment, and an exhibition space for art works drawn by children in Yeonsu on the theme of the importance of climate change will also be exhibited.
In order to encourage participation in an easy route, it is composed of an open corridor experience booth, and a globe-shaped light that alternately turns on gray-green-blue lights has been installed.
At 3:30 pm on the 29th, Professor Jae-Chun Choi, a biologist, gave a special lecture on the impact and importance of climate change on the global ecology under the theme of ‘climate change and ecology.’
Proving international competitiveness by promoting Yeonsu’s innovation policies’ outcomes
Through 15 independent booths and 10 performance promotion booths, the Yeonsu Innovation Policy Promotion Center is a space where Yeonsu, the representative city of lifelong learning, shares various policies implemented or in progress with the global community.
Starting with the ICLC attraction, t introduced the establishment of a cultural foundation, designation of a preliminary cultural city, creation of a women-friendly city and dementia-free village, conversion of the entire Dong- residents' association, and selection of the Angol and Hambak Village for the Urban Regeneration New Deal project.
At the same time, the Songdo International City Library and Yeonsu Culture and Arts Center are being promoted along with policies in daily life, such as the Yeonsu E-um and Benefit Plus project, the declaration of self-reliance of masks and the establishment of public mask production facilities.
Yeonsu, a representative city for lifelong learning, is actively informing and promoting the global competitiveness of the city, and practices related to global citizenship education, through the Yeonsu Innovation Policy Promotion Center.
The Book Festival where famous writers communicate with invited citizens
The Book Festival, which is operated as a window for citizens to communicate through books, is divided into with a total of 35 booths including a digital book experience hall, an artist's room, an experience booth, a contest exhibition, and a stamp tour.
The Book Concert, held on the last day of the event, was held from 11 am on the 30th for an hour and a half presenting writer Eun-young Choi of 'Bright Night' and singer Harim to create a space where books and music coexist.
From 1 pm, under the theme of 'Life of the library, the fate of books in the future,’ a collaboration of knowledge curators, Hye-young Lee, professor of library and information science at Dongduk Women's University, writer Seul-ah Lee, and writer Byeong-geun Jeon had an opportunity to communicate with citizens through lectures, questions, and free-discussion.
In addition, the 'Writer's Room Booth' is held for two days, and a special time to communicate with the citizens is prepared by inviting 4 writers, Seon-kyung Yoo, Joo-hye Park, Jang-seong Kim, and Yun-jeong Kim.
The Media Festival with various citizen participation programs
With a total of 30 booths, it is composed mainly of citizen participation programs through media such as radio, TV and YouTube, along with the media sharing bus and smart mobile studio.
Yeonsu Village TV Resident Village Broadcasting Team, part of the village community revitalization project, introduces village broadcasting through ‘Watching Radio,’ and also introduces village broadcasting contents guided by residents, such as finding hidden gems in Yeonsu.
In addition, TV news is produced directly in the studio inside the bus by using a large bus equipped with educational and broadcasting equipment to visit places with poor education infrastructure, such as islands and mountainous areas. Participants can also explore broadcasting-related jobs such as PD, announcer, and cameraman.
Various experiences such as the 'Village Media Zone,’ which presents daily stories created by residents in the form of content in various formats, 'VR Experience,’ a virtual reality game and
'Zepetto Making' avatar, and 'Training Quiz Contest' where citizens directly participate were set up.
On the main stage at 3 pm on the 30th, comedian Jung-soo Lee and psychiatrist Woo-yeol Jung will also hold a YouTube talk concert with the theme of 'A story to tell people who dream of becoming YouTubers.’

The Edu Expo was prepared as a space to share the importance of education and learning in the global village and region and introduce excellent Korean educational companies.
Each booth will operate corporate a PR hall such as Edutech, Eduspace, and Educontents, and will also hold corporate briefing sessions in each region.

It is a Korean food fair to promote the excellence of Korean food to the world and promote the globalization and popularization of Korean food. It is also a place where you can enjoy the taste, culture, style, and etiquette of Korean food together through the Food Master Invitation Exhibition and Excellent Food Promotion Hall.
Under the theme of ‘Health, Well-being, Food,’ the exhibition hall will be composed of five themes, including the Korean food theme hall, experience hall, 24-period play culture event hall, and excellent food exhibition and sales hall, to stimulate the taste buds of participants with various programs.
